Your post reminded me that I wanted to visit the mountain near my home in search of hepatica.

Yes, I am particular about framing. For that set I had the benefit of the Canon 100 mm macro lens as well as the position of the flowers on the gorge wall. It made possible a view from below without laying in the mud or climbing the gorge wall.

We do not have Hepatica here in Northeast Massachusetts and it was a treat to see them up close!

The distribution map shows hepatica throughout the northeast. You might find them in a place such as Savoy Mountain State forest? Here is the distribution map https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatica#/media/File:Hepatica_distribution_America.png
