Back in 2007 I used a 100 mm Canon Macro lens on a Kodak slr along with a Sony DSC-F828 variable lens for this mix of macro and habitat captures presented as a gallery so you can flip back and forth among the larger images. Click any image to bring up a larger version.

I thought as much, Michael … sometimes we must suffer for our art, eh?

Gorgeous pictures as always – love that waterfall

I taken that one from all angles. During summertime low flow, I climbed down there.

Michael, thanks for sharing your photographs. The waterfall makes me want to travel to Old Man’s Cave, which is about an hour away.

Why are flowers so photogenic? I already have a collection of flower pics and am restraining myself, but Spring is asserting itself…

A wonderful taste of the vitality of spring here, Michael Stephen, with your exquisite photos. I especially like the one near the top with all the purple flowers, because you were able to highlight several of the different stages.

It is enjoyable to be there early enough in the season to catch that.

The first greening of the trees and so much to do. It is a great time.

I went looking for hepatica last week in the Sourland Mountain Preserve but alas either I was too early or too late. Beautiful flower.

Look for the leaves for which the plant is named. You can see them in a photograph from this posting. https://michaelstephenwills.com/2019/04/17/hepatica/
They are dark purple and to the left of the flowers. The Sourland Mountain Preserve is an interesting place, never visited it.

Thanks for sharing the link. Iām familiar with hepatica but did not find any on my recent outing. I have photographed them in the past: https://islandinthenet.com/dispersed-by-forest-ants/

I read your posting, Khurt, and researched the Sourland Mountain Preserve and perused the set of photographs of Flickr. I knew Bleeding Heart seeds were dispersed by ants, Hepatica seeds are new information for me. Thanks. Bleeding Heart seeds have a tiny external oily Elaiosome on the outside that ants are attracted to and consume.

Lovely close-ups, especially the one that shows the silky texture of the buds.

Thank you for the wonderful pics, I have missed your blog, seems WP often drops blogs from my reader and mail. Glad to see your work again!

Wow, good to know. Awhile back I changed from almost daily postings to 1 – 2 a week. That may be the reason.

These photos shout out to me, “Spring is coming!” Lovely! They brightened my dreary, cloudy day here in North Carolina. Thank you.
