I am fascinated by this vantage from the South Rim trail. It is possible because the gorge bends almost 90 degrees, the gorge walls fall away to reveal the 215 foot waterfall.

Did you hike to the canyon floor?

Yes!! The gorge opens to Cayuga Lake where there is a path following the creek to the waterfall base. Both Rim trails descend to the valley floor and join this, the “gorge trail.” Thanks for asking. Here is a post from within the gorge. https://michaelstephenwills.com/2019/02/17/the-thaw-at-taughannock-falls/

Majestic. Because of your photos I am seeing places I never knew existed, and likely will not get to visit. Thank you.

Gorgeous! (Must be where that word came from lol). Wondering if those are squirrels or birds or leaves on a branch in the foreground?

oak leaves on a sapling. The challenge is finding a clear view without climbing over the protective fence and that I’d never do. I appreciate the positive comments on this image. They inspire me to keep perfecting this shot.

We have many here in the Finger Lakes. Look up Letchworth. I need to post on that.
