I captured these during a trip through the Bronx, returning on a perfect fall afternoon from our outing to find Grandfather Wills’ resting place: Bronx River Parkway, Moushulu Parkway, Henry Hudson Parkway then over the George Washington Bridge to New Jersey. The trees were in their glory.
I had a session using a tripod for longer exposure shots and neglected to revise the camera settings for shooting on the run from an auto…so the photographs are not as sharp as they could be.

New Jersey from the Transcontinental Interstate Route 80 connecting New York City to San Francisco and all point in between.
Familiar names and places from childhood: my grandmother lived in the Bronx, so we often visited there. Imagine if we could see it the way it looked before American settlement.

The Bronx River was amazing back then. The Bronx is coming back from its dark days in the late 70’s, 80’s

Had you not titled it as such, I’m sure a lot of people would be surprised to learn that so much natural beauty was in the Bronx. It is hardly the first thing that comes to mind when you mention that borough. It’s a nice area. The zoo, botanic gardens and Fordham are nearby.

The Bronx is coming around. Much of it is still a horror, though.
