There are two other state parks near Ithaca, plus the Cornell Campus. You need a full week for them all.

It can be. Once, a corner was roped off by the police for an investigation. A man was found dead below the cliff. Still, a person needs to work at being in a dangerous position. Stay on the path and injury is unlikely except for the occasional stumble down stairs, falling trees and rabid raccoons.
