Experience here the frozen beauty of Taughannock Falls in winter, the verdant revival of spring, the lush warmth of summer, and autumn’s fiery transformation. The falls symbolize the unending cycle of seasons.
Pam and the author visited Dr. Frank Winery on Keuka Lake’s west side, observing how local environment and genetics, particularly epigenetics, influence vine growth. The west side has more sunlight exposure, due to geological conditions creating a microclimate favorable to the vines.
The town of Ithaca evokes serene charm with its blend of history and modernity. Its community spirit is embodied in key symbols such as the local Fire Department and a public apple sculpture, a tribute to nature’s riches. Ithaca’s architectural prowess reflects generational craftsmanship, while the exuberance of local daisies exemplifies optimism. Encapsulating everyday beauty and shared experiences, Ithaca is more than a geographical location—it’s an ongoing narrative.

The Erie Barge Canal significantly influenced New York’s history, particularly impacting Cayuga Lake and Ithaca. The canal, which extended to the Cayuga-Seneca canal, transformed Ithaca into a prosperous community due to shipping and salt production industries. Today, despite its shift from industrial uses to a leisure and educational haven, the canal’s cultural and economic legacy remains indelible on the town and lake.
